Tehran (ISNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian announced on Wednesday that the United Kingdom paid its debt to Tehran a few days ago.
Regarding the release of two British-Iranian detainees Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe and Anoosheh Ashoori from custody, Amir-Abdollahian emphasized, “This move was done based on humanitarian grounds”.
Amirabdollahian denied any links between the payment of Britain’s debt of $530 million and the release of two British-Iranian prisoners after years of detention.
He also pointed to the nuclear negotiations in Vienna, announcing, “We are so close to the final steps of the Vienna talks”.
