“Fatherland”: A Journey into the Memories and Roots of Iranian Artists Through a TV Documentary Series

The documentary series Fatherland (Sarzameen-e Pedari), offering a fresh, human-centered narrative of the lives of renowned Iranian cinema and television artists, is now ready for broadcast following the completion of its production phase. Commissioned by the SimaFilm Center, the 12-part series, with each episode running 52 minutes, takes an in-depth look at the familial and geographic roots of Iranian actors.

The first season of Fatherland features a range of celebrated artists including Mahmoud Pakniat, Alireza Khamseh, Fariba Kowsari, Maryam Sa’adat, Farhad Aeesh, Maedeh Tahmasebi, Parviz Fallahipour, Masoud Forootan, Reza Fayyazi, Jalil Farjad, Behzad Khodaveysi, Abdolreza Akbari, and Farhad Basharati. Each artist, with their unique story, guides the viewer through their native land, becoming storytellers of Iran’s cultural and national identity.

The series is directed by a team of acclaimed Iranian documentarians, including Babak Behdad, Mehdi Asadi, Mehdi Bagheri, Hadi Masoum-Doust, Raya Nasiri, and Mehdi Jabin-Shenas—each with an impressive track record in the social, cultural, and biographical documentary genre.
